The comprehensive educational program of MCSCS adheres to the School District of Philadelphia's and the Dept. of Education State standards, supplemented with elements from national organizations, state and federal standards, and other proven programs. The foundation of the Mathematics, Civics and Sciences Charter School of Philadelphia, Inc.'s educational program is a four-part process:

    The MCSCS courses and curriculums are structured to cover the mastery of basic concepts attained at grade appropriate levels.  Developmental stages of the skilled learner will move through fairly predictable phases such as beginner, intermediate, proficient.

    The curriculums are designed to encompass education and skill based competency utilizing the following concepts:

bullet Computer and Science Labs (available for every grade level)

bullet Visual Aids and Hands on Experience (Visits to Courts, Hospitals, Computer Consulting Firms)

bullet Leadership Skills

    Courses will not only be taught through classroom experiences, but planned learning experiences through educational trips to places where students can observe and study in real life settings such as visits to Philadelphia Country rooms, hospitals, stock exchange and to computer companies such as JCW COMPUTER CONSULTING.

In addition to our rigorous course work, students in fifth through twelfth grades are required to select a school-to-college course of study. The selections include Law, Medical, Computer Science and Accounting Academies. The academies are staffed by professional lawyers, doctors, computer specialists and certified public accountants. The students attend the academies five days a week and they receive full credit for the course. Other required subjects offered are Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Reading and Computer classes for every student

MCSCS faculty consists of experienced Pennsylvania certified teachers and assistants who as positive role models exhibit respect, love, individual attention and a reward system for success. The teachers are accountable for children's achievement.
