The Mathematics, Civics and Sciences Charter School of Philadelphia, Inc. (MCSCS) was established as an outgrowth of Parents United for Better Schools (PUBS). PUBS is a non-profit, multi-racial parental advocacy corporation. PUBS established a tutoring program for grades first through twelfth for private and public school students. PUBS also sponsors adult basic skills and computer training classes.

    Veronica Joyner, M.Ed. is the Founder and Chief Administrative Officer of The Mathematics, Civics and Sciences Charter School of Philadelphia, Inc. MCSCS was founded in 1999 and is one of the largest charter schools in the state of Pennsylvania with a population of nearly 1,000 students in grades first through twelfth.

    The Mathematics, Civics and Sciences Charter School is ranked as one of Philadelphia’s top ten schools. This ranking includes all Charter and Philadelphia Public Schools in Philadelphia.
